Step outside our gate and walk the beach, play in the waves, body surf, surf, collect sea shells, or just sit and watch the sunset.

Near the entrance of Las Peñitas, you will find this brightly colored malecon with sealife sculptures and spectacular views.

Rent a bicycle or e-bike for a tour on the road that connects the beach towns of Las Peñitas and Poneloya.

Get picked up at the hotel, then get a boat ride to Mangroves Island Bar and Grill for lunch, followed by floating on tubes.

Take a guided boat tour of the mangroves in Juan Venado Nature Reserve to see tropical birds, crocodiles, and iguanas.

Add a stop on Juan Vendado Island to release baby turtles into the sea (only on days when turtles are hatching).

Fish for tuna, mackerel, or red snapper from a panga in the ocean with a local fisherman.

Take a yoga class offered from nearby hostels in the morning or late afternoon.

Take a private surfing lesson with a local surf instructor or rent a surf board for the day.

Jump into a sand volleyball game during late afternoon, pre-sunset hours.

Go horseback riding on the beach in the early morning or at sunset.

Play a few games of pickle ball on a new court next to Play Roca just down the beach.

A visit to Nicaragua is not complete without a ride on the chicken bus. For just C$18 you can catch a ride to Leon right outside our gate - buses come and go every hour until 7pm.

Located outside of Leon, this small, privately-owned zoo is a great stop for families. See some big cats, monkeys, reptiles, and birds ... then let the kids play at the playground.

Spend the day at the Art Museum, the Museum of Traditions and Legends, or the Museum of the Revolution in Leon, then grab lunch at one of several great restaurants. 

Climbing to the top of the cathedral in Leon is a must. The open-air white roof make you feel like you're in another world and views of the city at sunset are spectacular.

If you visit during the season (Nov-Dec) you might want to take in a baseball game and cheer on the local team in Leon. Tickets are affordable and the experience is priceless.

Get up early to climb to the top of Cerro Negro volcano just outside of Leon with a guide and sled down for a once-in-a-lifetime, adrenaline rush.

Get a ride to the base and then climb to the top of Telica volcano just outside of Leon to look into the active crater and take in the breathtaking views at sunset.

Flor de Cana is produced and exported in Nicaragua. During the 1.5 hour tour, you can taste the rum in its different stages, from raw material to its final product.
